I'm Anita R, Hollins, DACM, Dipl Ac (NCCAOM), LAc, a licensed acupuncturist who embraces the holistic principle of treating the whole person – mind, body, soul, and spirit. When asked about my choice to become a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) doctor, I recall my first experience with acupuncture while traveling in 2009 when a health condition cleared within a few acupuncture treatments.
I hold a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine degree and a Health Coach certificate from Pacific College of Health and Science, a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree from National University of Health Sciences, a Master of Science degree in Nonprofit Management from Spertus College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Spelman College.
I believe that evoking awareness is the catalyst that empowers patients and clients to move toward a state of balance and healing. This is important, especially when working with chronic conditions like pain, fatigue, stress, and digestive disorders. Upon making the correlation between chronic conditions, repressed emotions, and their manifestations, I authored Power in Awareness Journal: Capturing Experiences That Trigger Emotions and Physical Manifestations, a guided journal that helps someone connect the dots between triggering situations, associated emotion(s), and the body’s response. It provides space for recording awareness, self-care, release, and empowerment.
